A SEARCH was conducted for a teenager believed to be in the water.

This was at 6.36pm on Saturday, September 4. The young person was believed to be in the water near Victoria dock Caernarfon.

At 6.47pm the Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington, with her volunteer crew, launched and proceeded towards Caernarfon.

The coastguard helicopter also attended as well as the Bangor and Llandwrog mobile coastguard rescue teams, North Wales Police and Welsh ambulance.

A spokesperson from Beaumaris Lifeboat said: "Whilst en-route the lifeboat was advised that the missing youngster was now believed to have entered the water from the old slate quay at Caernarfon near the swing bridge.

"Whilst arrangements had been made to open the swing bridge due to the state of the tide the lifeboat was just able to pass under the swing bridge without having to wait for it to be opened and immediately commenced a search pattern in conjunction with the Coastguard helicopter and land-based units.

"Fortunately, the police were able to ascertain that the missing youngster had been located ashore, and the search could be discontinued with all units stood down.

"The lifeboat arrived back at Beaumaris at 7.37pm to be refuelled and cleaned under the current Covid 19 instructions."
