AN AMBITIOUS village football club has unveiled a new kit and new sponsor for its first season in the inaugural Lock Stock Ardal North West Division – and they’re banking on having a recipe for success.

The name on the shirts of CPD Y Felinheli is ‘Llofft’, a new café, bar and restaurant in the village, and as well as their new-look home and away kits, the club have upgraded their facilities at their ground, Cae Seilo.

They certainly got their season off to a flying start on July 31 – Gavin Lloyd Jones scored in the first minute of their opening game at Rhostyllen, but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at the final whistle.

They earned the right to compete at this level by winning the Welsh Alliance Division Two in thrilling style, pipping rivals Penmaenmawr Phoenix to the title on goal difference after both finished the 2019-20 season on 40 points.

The key result in that campaign was a 3-2 home win against Phoenix, sealed dramatically with an 89th-minute goal by Gruff John.

Now, Llofft have put their shirts on Y Felinheli, and both see the sponsorship as a perfect partnership.

Gwil John, from CPD Y Felinheli, said: “We are very grateful to all those who have sponsored us over the years.

“The club is very close to the hearts of the people of Y Felinheli, and it’s great to have a new business run by locals as our kit sponsor.”

Elen ap Robert, who owns Llofft with husband Dylan Huws, said: “As a local business, we’re very happy to support the club.

“It plays an important part in the community and that is also our aim with the new café, bar and restaurant.

“The values of the club and the opportunities it provides to young local players makes this a good match, and aligns with our ambition to play our part in the life of the community.

“We wish the club the best of luck at the beginning of an exciting and challenging season.”
