AN AMATEUR football team based in Anglesey have had a defibrillator installed at their pitch after it was donated to them by a charity group based in the region.

CPD Llanerchymedd FC received the piece of kit from ‘Party on the Pitch’, which is now set up at the site of their home ground, Tan Parc.

Though, it will be not be up and running before it has been activated by ambulance control.

Club chairman, Elwyn Hughes, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to Rachael Young and the rest of ‘Party on the Pitch’ for this impressive piece of kit.

“There’s been a lot in the press over the years of individuals collapsing and some unfortunately passing away due to the lack of medical equipment such as a defibrillator to hand at sports venues.

“I hope it’s something we will never need to use, but the peace of mind of knowing it’s there, just in case it’s ever needed, is very comforting.”

‘Party on the Pitch’, which has raised more than £80,000 in the last five years, paid for and installed the defibrillator themselves, and is the second they have installed in Llanerchymedd, with the other found outside the Twrcyhelun Arms pub.

There is also a third defibrillator in the village, donated by another group, at the Stesion y Llan café.

According to statistics, if a defibrillator is used within the first minute of a victim collapsing, the survival rate can be as high as 90 per cent.
