THE walls surrounding a 16th century North Wales estate have been vandalised with anti-vaccine graffiti.

The wall is part of the Faenol estate, which borders the B4547 between Felinheli and Bangor.

The graffiti states: 'The BBC covered Jimmy Saville. They say vaccines are safe?'

A Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: “Gwynedd Council is committed to cleaning graffiti from public land or buildings as a matter of urgency.

“As this wall is on private property, it is the responsibility of the landowner to address the issue.”

The estate takes up more than 1,000 acres of parkland, including a garden laid out in Elizabethan times.

The parkland is situated within a seven-mile stone wall, and holds more than 30 listed buildings including a chapel and medieval tithe barn.

The hall was built in 1793 and extended during the 19th century, and is now privately owned.
