THE UK minister in charge of freeports and the Levelling Up Fund visited Anglesey on Monday, where he was shown around by Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie.

Regional growth and local government minister Luke Hall met up with Mrs Crosbie at Pete’s Burger Van in Holyhead, before the pair headed off to Holyhead Maritime Museum to meet with its manager, Eric Anthony, and chairman, Captain Tudor Roberts.

The minister then took a pilot boat around Holyhead port to see the facilities and possibilities for the area.

He finished his visit at the Ucheldre Arts Centre at Mill Bank in Holyhead, and met general manager Mike Gould and team members.

“It was great to have the UK Government minister here who is heading up the freeports, the Levelling Up Fund and the Shared Prosperity Fund, and to show him around to see the potential we have for all three initiatives,” said Mrs Crosbie.

“I was more than happy to tell the story we have around jobs and investment, and what is needed to bring those important drivers for our economy here to Anglesey.

“I would like to thank Luke Hall for taking the time to visit. It was his only engagement in Wales yesterday, and I know local people he met appreciated him coming along.

“This is the fourth minister to visit Anglesey this summer, and it shows the island is front and centre of UK Government policy.”

Luke Hall added: “It was really important to be in North Wales, seeing first-hand some of the attractions and infrastructure Anglesey has to offer.

“I am excited to work with the island on the Government’s levelling up agenda and on attracting investment and securing future jobs and prosperity.

“I would like to thank Virginia for accompanying me on the visits. She is a really effective champion for Ynys Môn in Westminster and on the island.”
