BANGOR Gymnastics Club has paid tribute to one of its former coaches following his passing.
The club announced the death of Stan Buckley, their former head coach, in a post on their Facebook page on Monday (August 23).
The full post read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr Stan Buckley.
“Mr Buckley was Head Coach at Bangor for 15 years and was respected, admired and loved by so many gymnasts and coaches over the years.
“Those that know Mr Buckley will agree he was a true legend and inspired so many of us throughout our gymnastics journeys.
“His memories will live with us forever.
“We send our sincere condolences with (wife) Diane and the family.”
Numerous comments on the post also offered their condolences and shared their memories of Mr Buckley, with one saying: “Your teaching opened so many doors and opportunities for youngsters, and your contribution to gymnastics won't ever be forgotten.”
