GET ready Chester - The Vivienne is moving to the city!

The Vivienne, the first ever winner of Drag Race UK in 2019, who is originally from Colwyn Bay, announced she is moving to Chester.

One of the UK's most high profile drag queens, The Vivienne is the alter ego of former Rydal Penrhos pupil James Lee Williams.

Although calling Liverpool home, James spoke about his upbringing in North Wales in the werk room during the show that aired on BBC Three.

On Facebook, James that he an husband David Paul Ludford were buying their first home together in the city.

He posted: "Liverpool, it’s time for me to move on. David and I have decided to relocate to Chester.

"So not too far. Growing up means doing grown up things, like buying a house. And Chester is where we’d like to do that. Liverpool will always be the city that made me, the people, the laughs, the ball!

"But 30 is round the corner and it’s time for a new chapter.

"Still here for a few months. And we’ll always be around Liverpool coz that where our friends are."

Along with Baga Chipz, Divina De Campo, Bimini Bon Boulash and Lawrence Chaney, The Vivienne has been one of the breakout stars of Ru Paul's Drag Race franchise in the UK.

They have appeared on The Great British Sewing Bee, Celebrity Juice, and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

Recently, The Vivienne made a landmark appearance in Emmerdale as the soap celebrated its first Pride.

Then, the drag queen said: “It’s not only an honour to be here it's amazing to be making history by being in Emmerdale’s first Pride event making sure the LGBTQ+ community have a voice in soaps.

"There are already LGBTQ+ characters in soaps but bringing Pride into the people’s living rooms that may not normally attend one is brilliant."

It's not hard to see why James and David have chosen Chester as their home. The city has a vibrant LGBTQA+ community and hosts one of the UK's most popular Prides.

Tickets are now on sale for the first post-lockdown Chester Pride, which will have a capacity of 2,000 rather than the usual 15,000.

Series three of Drag Race UK is due to start next month.
