A new Costa Coffee drive thru in Bangor could create 11 new jobs, according to developers.

Gwynedd Council has received a planning application for the new development on Caernarfon Road in Bangor, which would open between 5am and 11pm.

The plans, submitted by JSD Roadside Developments Ltd, would see the site built on a plot to the north of Harvey’s New York Bar & Grill and not far from the Tesco superstore.

There are already Costa Coffee outlets in both the city centre and above the Next store, also on Caernarfon Road.

But sharing the same access as Harvey’s, the applicants state that these latest proposals would create 11 jobs once up and running.

“The development site amounts to an area of 0.2 ha and is located on vacant land to the rear of Harveys New York Bar & Grill,” note the supporting documents.

“The proposal would maximise the potential of a vacant site and provide a coffee shop (1800 sq.ft GIA) with a drive‐thru facility with associated parking.

“The design has been carefully designed to ensure access to all parts of the site irrespective of age or disability. The existing access on Cyttir Lane will be used to service the site.

“Accessible parking bays have been located adjacent to the store entrance to ensure easy access to the customer entrance.”

The plans come following recent approval of a new KFC restaurant and drive-thru  just a stone’s throw away on the site of the existing Topps Tiles store.

It’s expected that Gwynedd Council’s planning department will consider the application over the coming weeks, following consultation with bodies including Bangor City Council.
