THE Aldi supermarket on Garth Road in Bangor has been put up for sale.

The German chain is relocating from the town centre to the site of the former Blakemore Cash & Carry on Caernarfon Road, with ten extra jobs set to be created at their new base.

The Garth Road site has now been put on the market through sales agent Lamb & Swift Commercial Property for £1.25 million, or to rent at £120,000 per annum.

The unit will be available with vacant possession in April 2022, and is suitable for a number of alternative uses, subject to planning permission.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “The new store will provide residents of Bangor with a greater level of parking, and a high-quality, modern store providing customers with a modern shopping experience, whilst still stocking the same range of award-winning products.

“This new store in Bangor is part of our ambitious growth strategy that will see around 1,200 in operation by 2025, whilst also improving our existing community stores for a better customer experience.”

The new Aldi supermarket, to be found next to Dunelm on Caernarfon Road, is expected to open later in 2021.
