The policing team covering the Gwynedd North region executed a warrant in the Bangor area on Tuesday morning regarding a stolen bicycle.

During the warrant, a mountain bike was seized by the Gwynedd North Tasking Team as it was suspected to be stolen. A few hours later, it was reunited with its rightful owner.

It transpired that the bike had been stolen from the Bangor area a few months earlier. The suspect has now been identified and the team will be speaking to the individual in due course.

Sergeant Hughes, from the Gwynedd North team, said: "I would urge everyone to be mindful of the security around their push bikes, and to ensure that they are not left unattended for any period of time.

“North Wales Police treat the theft of property very seriously, and will act upon all information where possible.

“If you have any information as to the whereabouts of any stolen property, then please let us know."

A follow-up comment on a Facebook post on North Wales Police’s Gwynedd North page read: “Following some of the comments on this post, we'd like to clarify that the warrant that took place in Bangor this morning was executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act and a quantity of white substance was recovered, which will be tested in due course.

“The bike in question was worth in excess of £3,000, which has been returned to the owner, who was extremely grateful.

“The team tackle all crime types and will continue to act to disrupt criminals in the area.”
