A WORRIED husband called 999 after he became concerned for the safety of his wife.

The pair had been kayaking off the Anglesey coast on Wednesday, August 4 when they became separated.

Holyhead RNLI’s lifeboats were paged a 4.15pm and a request was made for the launch of both the D-class inshore lifeboat and the all-weather Severn-class lifeboat.

The husband had searched the immediate area for his wife.

She had been last been seen at 3.30pm.

A spokesperson for Holyhead Lifeboat said: "As the lifeboats launched, it was discovered that the woman had been spotted by a local fishing vessel, between Church Bay and Sandy Beach. The all-weather lifeboat ‘Christopher Pearce’ returned to her berth, while the D-class ‘Mary and Archie Hooper’ headed to the location.

"On arrival, the lifeboat crew escorted the kayaker back to Sandy Beach and into the care of the volunteer cliff rescue team from Holyhead.

"The woman’s husband, who had been waiting with the Cemaes volunteer coastguard team, was then reunited with his wife, who was unhurt."
