A MAN has admitted manslaughter at the outset of a trial following the death of a 'kind and loving' dad.
Gareth Jones, of no fixed abode, and Stuart Parkin, of Nimrod Walk in Holyhead, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday to begin their trial, accused of murdering David John Jones in November last year.
David John Jones, who was 58 and known locally as DJ, died as a result of extensive head injuries in Royal Stoke University Hospital.
On the second day of the trial, prior to the prosecution opening the case, an alternative count of manslaughter was put to 48-year-old Gareth Jones - which he admitted.
The court heard given Jones' plea, the Crown Prosecution Service is to offer no evidence against Parkin, 38, and a formal not guilty verdict was recorded in respect of him.
Gareth Jones is to be sentenced on Tuesday, for the manslaughter and for a drugs conspiracy offence which the court heard he admitted on a previous occasion.
In a statement following the death of David John Jones last year, a member of his family said: "Our Dad, the rock of our family, has been taken from us in the most tragic of circumstances.
“He was loved by everyone who knew him, being the most kind, loving and caring man.
"He was always there for those who needed him and was the life and soul of our family. We will be forever lost without him."
