Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie has announced that her Hidden Heroes for July are Ann Mills, Pat Perkins and Lynne Adams from the Pentraeth NSPCC Fundraising team on Anglesey.

Ann, Pat and Lynne have raised over £5,000 for the NSPCC from making and selling preserves, and their novel approach meant that they could keep fundraising throughout lockdown.

The concept started in 2015 when they found they had leftover jars of jams and marmalades from their NSPCC stall at the Anglesey Vintage Society’s annual event.

After putting the jars on a table outside a house to sell to passers-by, they found that their preserves were in high demand.

Over the past fifteen months, with no events to sell at, they have kept their table filled with chutneys, pickles, jams and marmalades and continued to support the NSPCC.

Group member, Ann Mills, said: “The preserves have seen us through, bringing in much needed funds for many more children in the present climate. We are most grateful to our customers without whom our fund raising would have come to an end.”

Mrs Crosbie said: “I want to congratulate Ann, Pat and Lynne on their amazing achievement.

"So many businesses and charities have had to find new ways of working over the past year.

"It is a testament to the Pentraeth NSPCC fundraising team that they have continued to make such a significant contribution to this very worthwhile charity in very challenging times.

"It was a pleasure to meet them and buy a jar of their delicious marmalade.”
