A MAN has been arrested after a woman suffered serious injuries in a crash.

North Wales Police said a woman in her thirties was airlifted to Royal Stoke Hospital following the incident on the A470 in Maentwrog on Tuesday night.

The road was shut following the incident, which took place near Trawsfynydd Power Station just after 8.30pm.

A man, aged in his thirties, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous and drink driving.

The road was reopened just before 3am on Wednesday following a forensic investigation at the scene of the crash.

The force has appealed for witnesses of an 08 plate blue Aldi A3 in the area

Sergeant Raymond Williams, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I hope the young lady makes a good recovery.

“I am appealing to anyone who was travelling on the road between the village of Trawsfynydd and the entrance to the Power Station between 8.25pm and 8.35pm or may have dashcam footage that shows a blue 08 plate Audi A3 driving on that road prior to the collision to contact us.

“The road was closed in order to carry out a full forensic investigation into the collision and I am grateful for the patience shown by road users whose journey may have been inconvenienced due to this incident.”

The man who has been arrested remains in police custody.
