TWO “possible” arson attempts have been reported on Holyhead in the aftermath of a large mountain fire.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to what is thought to be an arson incident in the open on Holyhead Mountain at 4.25pm on Tuesday, June 8.
It happened less than a day after three fire crews tackled a significant blaze on the mountain for more than four hours. The cause of the first incident is yet to be confirmed by the fire service.
A fire service spokesperson said: “We were called to a small fire in the open on Holyhead mountain at 4.25pm on Tuesday.
“One appliance attended. The call was stopped at 4.41pm.
“It was possible arson and the arson reduction team notified.
A second incident suspected to be arson was reported at Soldier’s Point in Holyhead later on Tuesday.
About 100 square metres of gorse and bracken were affected, the fire service said.
“We were called to a small fire in the open at Soldier’s Point, Holyhead at 7.05pm on Tuesday,” a fire service spokesperson added.
“One appliance attended. The call was stopped at 7.28pm.
“Police have been informed of possible arson.”
