A NEWLY expanded business centre in Llangefni has welcomed its new tenants.

Anglesey Business Centre on the Bryn Cefni Business Park is now being used by Cadarn Consulting Engineers and Anglesey Builders now occupy the renovated office space, which has helped create an extra 13 jobs between the two firms.

Expanding the Business Centre has provided much needed office and meeting space for businesses on the Island. The building’s extension offers two large open office areas; together with up to seven meeting rooms. These will be used by the new tenants to facilitate local business growth.

Ifan Rowlands, of Cadarn Consulting Engineers, said: “This move has allowed the business to grow sustainably and accommodate the demand for high quality innovative Engineering solutions from a base on Anglesey.”

“The move has helped create nine high value jobs, including a commercial and operations manager and two project manager roles, with the firm in the process of recruiting another four technical roles.”

The expansion of the Business Centre forms part of the wider development of the Welsh Government’s Anglesey Enterprise Zones, which is home to a number of Council and private business units.

Gethin Williams, of Anglesey Builders, added: “We feel privileged to have the opportunity to locate our Head Office at Bryn Cefni Business Park.”

“The move has raised the Company’s profile and professional reputation by allowing us to expand our facilities as well as further develop our team skills and training opportunities.

"Anglesey Builders have been able to create five new jobs, with the potential to expand the workforce further in the near future.”

Economic Development officers from the Isle of Anglesey County Council were successfully able to secure £4million of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) support through the Welsh Government to help develop the Business Centre and the wider Enterprise Zone.

Anglesey's Economic Development and Major Projects portfolio holder, Cllr Carwyn Jones, said, "Expanding the Anglesey Business Centre reflects our vision of providing the conditions for local businesses to develop and create good quality jobs.”

“I wish to thank our officers who work hard behind the scenes in putting together funding bids and delivering for our Island. This project has complemented other EU and Welsh Government backed business premises on the Island, including developments on the Bryn Cefni Business Park in Llangefni and Holyhead’s Penrhos Industrial Estate."

Minister for Economy Vaughan Gething MS said: “It’s great to see how this investment is delivering on Anglesey with businesses already up and running in the expanded Anglesey Business Centre. The site provides valuable office space and I’m pleased to see it has led to the creation of new jobs.

"There is an identified need in the market for units to meet the needs of SMEs and this development contribute towards meeting that demand. Facilities such as this will be key as face the challenges of the pandemic and as we move towards recovery.”
