A CRITICALLY acclaimed West End musical on its first ever UK tour will take to the stage at Venue Cymru next summer.

Dreamgirls follows three talented young singers, Effie White, Lorrell Robinson and Deena Jones, during the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American music history.

With little choice in an imperfect world, the trio embarks upon a musical rollercoaster ride through a world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the very limit.

The storyline took inspiration from the history of the Motown record label and one of its most famous acts, The Supremes. The show, which features the classic songs such as And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going and One Night Only, received major plaudits following its debut at the Savoy Theatre in London in 2016.

It includes Nicole Raquel Dennis, who plays Effie White, a character inspired by Supremes singer Florence Ballard, appeared in the final of The Voice in 2019. She has previously appeared in West End productions of Dear Evan Hansen, The Book of Mormon and Waitress.

Dreamgirls is directed and choreographed by Olivier and Tony Award-winning Casey Nicholaw. Set and costume design is being led by Tim Hatley, hair design by Josh Marquette, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, and music supervision by Nick Finlow.

The shows take place ay 7.30pm from August 9 to August 20, 2022.

Tickets range from £28 to £63. Concessions are £3.
