Businesses and organisations on Anglesey have until Friday, April 30, to apply for a share of the new UK Community Renewal Fund.

Anglesey is one of only 100 areas in the UK that is eligible to apply for this £220 million funding pot.

The Isle of Anglesey County Council is administering the new funding provided by the UK Government to support local areas in preparation of the launch of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in 2022.

It is currently inviting initial expressions of interest (EOI) from eligible local organisations wishing to be considered as applicants or beneficiaries of the fund.

As a ‘Lead Authority’, the County Council has been designated to:

• Invite project proposals from a range of local applicants, including the voluntary and community sector, organisations and local education providers including universities

• Appraise these projects and produce a shortlist of projects, up to a maximum value of £3 million per place, for submission to UK Government

Ideas and projects that have the greatest potential to deliver against key local priorities to help the Island’s economy recover from the Covid-19 pandemic will be prioritised.

Interim Head of Regulation and Economic Development, Christian Branch, said, “Anglesey is fortunate to have been identified as one of the 100 areas of the UK that could potentially benefit from the Community Renewal Fund.”

“We would encourage as many local businesses and organisations as possible to submit an expression of interest form through the County Council’s website.”

He added: “If we are successful in our application to the UK Government, this funding will help to support our local businesses and community groups to develop and improve opportunities and skills for residents following the significant hardships caused by Coronavirus.”

Expression of interest should be submitted by 4.00pm on Friday 30 April 2021. (Please ensure you have fully reviewed the eligibility criteria and guidance before completing the EOI).

Bids must focus their attention on the development areas of:

• Investment in skills

• Investment for local business

• Investment in communities and place

• Supporting people into employment
