THE little steam engines of Snowdonia will return for the first time in six months.

Llanberis Lake Railway will reopen in May as coronavirus restrictions on tourism are eased.

The one-hour route runs along the 1845 slate railway and takes visitors past the 13th century Dolbadarn Castle and past the twin lakes of Llyn Padarn to Penllyn. Visitors have stunning views of Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales.

In a social media statement, Llanberis Lake Railway said: "We are delighted to be able to announce that we will reopen our doors for the first time in over six months on the 19th of May.

"We are very much looking forward to seeing you all back here and our heritage steam trains back in place doing what they do best, transporting you on a relaxed journey through the heart of Snowdonia."

Tickets can be booked via the Llanberis Lake Railway website or by calling 01286 870549.
