AIRBUS has shared a video of a landmark flight.

The last ever A380 superjumbo to be built took off for its maiden flight.

It took off from the Airbus Jean-Luc Lagardere factory at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport in southern France before being delivered to Emirates

A first flight 🛫 is always special 👏. The one in this video is even more so as it was the first flight of the last #A380 to be produced. A day to remember for all #TeamAirbus, #avgeeks and A380 lovers. Here's to more decades flying and seeing the iconic giant of the skies! pic.twitter.com/uq2rIEybUr

"Here's to more decades flying and seeing the iconic giant of the skies!"

Although it was the final aircraft of its type - the world's largest passenger plane - to be built, the iconic A380 will remain in service for years to come around the globe.

Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO, tweeted: "Another remarkable day in Toulouse: the last #A380 has taken off for its maiden flight. Well done #TeamAirbus for your contributions over the years - looking forward to supporting this iconic aircraft and its customers for many years, delivering best-in-class passenger experience."

It is more than 15 years since the first A380 rolled off the production line in 2015.

The wings for the double-decker plane were built at the Airbus plant in Broughton and the giant Beluga aircraft, which transport the wings to Europe, have been a regular sight in the skies about Flintshire and Chester.

The A380 has flown more than 500,000 revenue flights carrying over 190 million passengers. This includes more than 300 commercial flights per day, which take off or land around the world every two minutes.
