A FORMER policewoman who turned to drink was jailed for six months on Monday after attacking her parents when she went “berserk” at their home.

Elliw Jones, 30, of Castle Street, Beaumaris, Anglesey, admitted breaching a restraining order by being at their home near Caernarfon, twice assaulting Karen Jones, and assaulting Gwyn Jones.

Magistrates at Llandudno heard victim Mrs Jones had a black eye after being punched. Prosecutor James Neary said Mr Jones was bitten several times and his daughter spat at his face.

“We are at breaking point,” Mr Jones told police. His drunken daughter had gone berserk.

Mrs Jones said :”I love her. I want her to get help.”

Tudur Owen, defending, said alcohol was a serious problem for his client and she was due a mental health assessment. The solicitor asked for a final opportunity for her.

But court chairwoman Janet Ellis said the restraining order was made recently and she was under a community order. The magistrate also said the defendant hadn’t been honest with the probation service.

“You know the trigger for this is alcohol. Your offences are considered so serious we can’t suspend the sentence in this situation,” she added.
