THE MS for Ynys Môn has called for an urgent intervention to save 27 jobs at risk on Anglesey.

Rhun ap Iorwerth said the Welsh Government must step in following reports that Joloda plans to move jobs from its Gaerwen site to Liverpool.

Mr ap Iorwerth said he is seeking to meet with the company urgently to discuss the matter further to prevent a major blow from a large employer on the island.

“We understand that there are plans from Joloda to move jobs from Gaerwen here on Anglesey to Liverpool," said Mr ap Iorwerth.

"I am very concerned about this, as are the constituents who have got in touch with me already about this. Joloda is an important employer on Anglesey and has been for many years.”

Last November, Joloda invested £240,000 to extend two areas of its operations in Gaerwen, build a dedicated trailer park, and upgrade equipment. £80,000 of that sum was funded by the Welsh Government to assist in increasing manufacturing capacity by 20 percent as well as improve efficiency, safety and create new jobs.

Mr ap Iorwerth added: “I hope to speak to the company and have contacted them, and I’m also writing to the Welsh Government to ask for immediate intervention to try to save these jobs.”
