PATROLS have been stepped up in Bangor following "rumours" of women being followed by a group of men.

North Wales Police's Bangor team said enquiries including CCTV monitoring and high visibility patrols are underway. Officers have not received any reports related to the incidents.

Police urged members of the public or potential victims to come forward with information.

"We're aware of rumours circulating Bangor that lone females are being followed by a group of men," police tweeted on the NWP Bangor page.

"Despite no victims coming forward our enquiries are underway and we are appealing to anyone who may have information or to anybody who may have been a victim to contact us.

"A number of enquiries have been undertaken so far, including reviewing CCTV however nothing untoward can be seen on any of the footage.

"High visibility reassurance patrols will continue and anyone with information that can assist us should contact us on 101 or the live web chat."
