A SEARCH was conducted for a person in the water.
Shortly before 11pm on Tuesday (February 16) night, volunteers from Holyhead Lifeboat Station were paged by HM Coastguard and asked to search the inner harbour area of Holyhead Port.
This followed a call to the emergency services, from a member of the public, citing the possibility of a person in the water.
The D-class inshore lifeboat Mary and Archie Hooper was launched and the volunteers spent about an hour searching the area concerned.
A spokesperson from the lifeboat team said: "As our all weather lifeboat is berthed at the same location, crew boarded her and switched on lights to illuminate the area and assist the search. North Wales Police and the local cliff rescue team were also in attendance.
"There was no sign of anyone in trouble and the lifeboat was then stood down just before midnight.
"It was thought the call had been made with good intent.
"The inshore lifeboat returned to station and was fully sanitised and prepared for any further calls."
