WORK to refurbish Britannia Bridge was halted due to bad weather on Wednesday evening.

The installation of support beams on the Menai Strait infrastructure was due to start on Wednesday, February 17 and take place until Wednesday, February 24.

"Britannia Bridge works have been postponed due to poor weather forecasted for this evening," Traffic Wales North & Mid tweeted.

Once the work begins, lane one of the A55 will be closed from 7pm until 5am with a speed restriction in place.

Network Rail has contracted AmcoGiffen to carry out the work under stone lintels at the top of the bridge towers.
