A CALF was killed after hay bales caught fire in a barn near Dolgellau.
North Wales Fire and rescue Service said it sent one crew to the incident in Mallwyd on Saturday afternoon.
Heat damage was caused light fittings in the roof space which led to three bales of straw being set on fire.
One calf died and a cow was injured with burns, the fire service said.
"We sent one crew from Dolgellau to a fire in Mallwyd, Gwynedd at 4.30pm on Saturday, January 16," a spokesperson said.
"In a barn, heat damage affected light fittings in the roof space and fire damage was caused to three bales of straw. One calf died and a cow had burns.
"The cause was accidental."
