TWO stellar musicians will continue the top series of concerts held by Rhyl Music Club in 2021.

Saxophonist Jonathan Redford and pianist Ashley Fripp performed in Rhyl to great acclaim last year and will return with a mesmerising jazz show on February 10.

The free-to-watch recital, titled ‘Melody Maker Rudy Wiedoeft and the Age of the Saxophone Craze’, will see the duo recite a selection of songs including Ring-Hager arr. Rudy Wiedoeft: Danse Hongroise, Savino/Wiedoeft: Dans L’Orient , Schulhof: Hot-Sonate, Wiedoeft: Llewellyn Walz, Weill: Selection from Threepenny Opera, Wiedoeft: Marilyn Walzer, Shostakovich: Waltz 2 from Jazz Suite No.2 and Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue.

Jonathan is an international prize-winner, most notably named Commonwealth Musician of the Year, gold medal and first prize winner in the 2018 Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition UK.

He was selected as a Young Artist with Park Lane Group, Tunnell Trust, Making Music UK, and Countess of Munster Musical Trust as well as being featured as a ‘Rising Star’ in BBC Music Magazine 2018.

Ashley Fripp studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Ronan O’Hora. He is currently studying with Eliso Virsaladze at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Italy and is undertaking doctoral studies into the piano music of Thomas Adès at the Guildhall School.

He has won prizes at more than a dozen national and international competitions.

The recital takes place from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
