A multi-agency partnership will ensure that hundreds of households on Anglesey enjoy the festivities a little more this year.

With Coronavirus still very much at the forefront of all our minds, Isle of Anglesey County Council, Medrwn Môn, Menter Môn, Citizens Advice Ynys Môn and the Food Banks on the island have worked together to support residents and communities this Christmas.

Their efforts will see:

• More than 700 children receiving a gift worth up to the value of £20. The gifts have been donated by Anglesey residents, Council staff and Elected Members.

• Funding to buy extra presents provided through Medrwn Môn’s GoFundMe appeal, and kind donations from others across Anglesey communities.

• More than 230 Christmas Food Hampers will be delivered to vulnerable households, including those hit hard by COVID-19 and loss of income.

• More than 60 hampers, that include food, drinks, toiletries, and pet food, delivered to those in emergency accommodation.

• ‘Chippy Chippy’, in Holyhead, also kindly preparing luxury packs for those in emergency accommodation.

• Vulnerable, lonely adults also receiving a gift to open on Christmas morning, thanks to the work of Anglesey County Council staff and community volunteers.

Isle of Anglesey County Council Leader, Llinos Medi, explained, “This Christmas, we felt it was more important than ever to pull together and support the Anglesey residents in need. It has been very humbling to see Anglesey’s community spirit shine through during such dark times.

"I would like to thank everyone that has contributed towards the various appeals and projects we have worked on, and also thank our partners for their tremendous work.”
