Over 100 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in North Wales, the latest data shows.

Public Health Wales figures released on Sunday (December 6) show that 121 new cases of the virus have been confirmed in the region in the last day.

A full breakdown of the cases is as follows:

  • Anglesey - 2 (967 in total)
  • Conwy - 18 (1,782 in total)
  • Denbighshire - 20 (1,869 in total)
  • Flintshire - 47 (3,225 in total)
  • Gwynedd - 9 (1,419 in total)
  • Wrexham - 25 (4,106 in total)

Wrexham's 203 cases per 100,000 people remains the highest seven-day rate in North Wales.

Sadly, 14 people who had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days have died in the last 24 hour period.

Nearly 20,000 coronavirus tests were undertaken across Wales in the last day.

Dr Chris Williams, incident director for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “It is now clear from the data that the coronavirus cases are rising in most parts of Wales, reversing the downward trend we had observed as a result of the fire break.

“We ask the public to observe the regulations and to limit their contact with other people as much as possible so that we all work together to bring the numbers of positive cases down.

“This means staying out of other people’s homes, limiting the times and the numbers of people that you meet, maintaining social distancing and hand hygiene, working from home if you can, and self-isolating if you show symptoms of coronavirus or are asked to do so by contact tracers.

“Public Health Wales urges everyone to follow the rules, to avoid transmission of Coronavirus and to protect everyone in our communities, including the most vulnerable."
