A COVID-19 testing centre has arrived in Bangor.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) has opened the coronavirus testing centre in the city this week, after it was open for a piloting scheme over the weekend.

Siân Gwenllian MS, who represents the city of Bangor in the Senedd, said: "I welcome the announcement that a test centre will be opened in Bangor this week.

"It’s about time. The centre should have been opened before Bangor went into a local lockdown period, for example, and especially before the firebreak lockdown period.”

The MS said she had been informed that discussions had been held between Bangor University and Deloittes, which is responsible for the contract for the local testing centre, and that work would be carried out to open the centre this week.

The MS added: “If we are serious about tackling this virus, which has caused so much devastation, it is important that we have a robust and effective testing plan."
