A SECOND coronavirus case has been confirmed at Ysgol Sefydledig Caergeiliog, Anglesey.

Parents and staff have been informed and issued with guidance provided by Public Health Wales.

A spokesman for the Isle of Anglesey County Council said: “There is currently no evidence to suggest transmission within the school and it will remain open for unaffected classes.

“NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect has been informed of the confirmed cases and relevant pupils and staff have been told to self-isolate for 14 days, and remain alert for any symptoms of the virus, including: a new or continuous cough, a high temperature or a loss of or change to sense of smell or taste.

“Those advised to self-isolated should book a coronavirus test if they develop any of these symptoms, even if they are mild.

“Anglesey residents can be book a test by phoning 119 or through the online portal: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-a-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/ before visiting the Coronavirus Testing Centre currently located in Llangefni (open 09.30 – 16.30 throughout the week).

“The testing centre is located at County Offices car park in Llangefni and can be accessed via the Industrial Estate Road (opposite ATS Euromaster, LL77 7JA).”

Anglesey’s Chief Executive, Annwen Morgan, said, “We are continuing to work closely with affected schools and supporting staff during this difficult time.”

“Our main concern remains the wellbeing of pupils, staff and wider community. We will continue to monitor the situation at Caergeiliog to see whether any further action is needed.”
