A WREXHAM woman is walking over 850-miles for a struggling charity.
Karen Bishop, 65, decided to go the extra mile and take part in a virtual 870-mile walk along the coast of Wales in a bid to raise funds for Nightingale House Hospice.
She has already completed 700 of those miles and raised over £1,000 in total.
She told the Leader: "At the end of the last lockdown the last of my children had left home. I had put on so much weight and I saw an advert on Facebook about a coast to coast 870 virtual mile walk.
"I enlisted and started doing it but then I thought I may as well do it for something.
"I contacted Nightingale House and they were ecstatic for the support. I've only got 170-miles left.
"In the beginning I was only doing a couple of miles a day. I'm 65 and a great grandmother, but now I'm doing around 9-miles a day.
"It's getting me out of the house. Anyone who can help please do so.
"I'm really enjoying it. The stone that I put on in weight, I've now lost. I never used to walk but now I walk everywhere, even the dog is getting fed up of walking."
