Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie took to the House of Commons chamber to champion her coastal community and the many others around the UK.

During Transport Questions Ms Crosbie was given the opportunity to raise two questions, she focused on the pay of maritime workers and the decarbonisation of the industry.

Additionally, she asked if the Minister would “commit to meeting with me and MPs from coastal communities to discuss this matter in more detail?”.

After the questions, Ms Crosbie said: “I am very lucky to be the representative for such a beautiful coastal community and I take the responsibility to support the maritime industry very seriously. I look forward to meeting with the Ministers in the Transport Office.

"I began receiving messages from colleagues only minutes after my questions asking to attend the meeting to champion their coastal constituencies too!”

Decarbonisation is a hot topic at the moment with the Government’s new commitment to running all households on renewable energy by 2030 and the upcoming 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26 on the horizon.

The UK is hoping to be a key driver in the decarbonisation of the world’s largest economies and as the trailblazer of the Net Zero by 2050 target that the EU has now followed, it looks like they are set to do so.

Ms Crosbie is an avid supporter of the Government’s measures to reverse climate change and their levelling up agenda.

Visiting local fisherman Sion Riley recently, Ms Crosbie was apprised of the importance of further support for the fishing community - “Fishing is an important industry to our small but mighty island, but in order to protect the waters for future generations, we need effective management of fish stocks and investment in small businesses like my own.

"That is why I support the action being taken to ensure future generations can make their livelihoods off the beautiful Anglesey coast”
