A KIND-hearted group of stitchers have donated £765 to the Wales Air Ambulance.
During the early stages of the pandemic, a group of North Wales stitchers set up a voluntary team ‘For the Love of Scrubs’, which made free personal protection garments for desperate NHS staff in hospitals, surgeries and nursing homes across North Wales.
The group, made up of more than 200 stitchers, produced garments free of charge but set up a Go Fund Me appeal to purchase quality material to create all items required.
The appeal was a huge success and saw donations come in from councils and companies, as well as the general public.
Now the ‘For the Love of Scrubs’ task is complete, which raised £7,475, the team decided to donate the remaining balance to the Wales Air Ambulance.
Veronica Ball, ‘For the Love of Scrubs’ North Wales Co-ordinator, said: “The ladies worked so hard, just sewing and sewing. It has been the most amazing experience and very rewarding.
“We were left with a Go Fund Me balance, which we donated to the Charity because we thought it would be a wonderful link to our cause. We hope it will help the Wales Air Ambulance continue the wonderful work that they do in such difficult circumstances."
"They have our recognition and deepest admiration.”
Lynne Garlick, the charity’s North Wales Fundraising Manager, said: “Thank you to everyone who donated to the appeal ‘For the Love of Scrubs’. Not only has their donation ensured that people working within health care settings are protected during these difficult times, they’re also keeping our lifesaving helicopters flying with this kind donation.
"The work of these amazing stitchers has been incredible. Thank you to everyone involved in making sure our frontline workers are safe during the pandemic."
