A PUPIL at an Anglesey primary school has tested positive for Coronavirus.

Isle of Anglesey County Council said that Ysgol Llanfairpwll pupils have been told to self-isolate for two weeks following the positive case on Friday, October 16.

The Llanfairpwllgwyngyll school will remain open after the council found no evidence that showed further transmission in other classes.

"Parents and staff were informed earlier today and issued with guidance provided by Public Health Wales," a council spokesperson said.

"There is currently no evidence to suggest transmission within the school setting and Ysgol Llanfairpwll will remain open for unaffected classes.

"NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect has been informed of the confirmed positive case and relevant pupils and staff have been told to self-isolate for 14 days; and remain alert for any symptoms of the virus."

Anglesey council said it is working closely with all schools and each one has measures in place to limit the potential spread of virus. These include extra cleaning, separation of classes and promoting good hygiene amongst pupils.
