A BODY discovered on Anglesey has been identified as a 44-year-old year old man.

Polish national Radoslaw Szwarc was an employee who was last seen aboard an Irish Ferries vessel sailing between Dublin Port and Holyhead on October 5.

His body was found near to Ynys Y Fydlyn, Anglesey, on Wednesday, October 7.

A spokesperson from North Wales Police Anglesey said: "Mr Szwarc's next of kin have been informed, as has the coroner's office.

"Specialist officers are currently supporting the family, and we would request that they are afforded privacy at this difficult time."

The discovery of Mr Szwarc's body happened about 11am on October 7; North Wales Police were contacted by a member of the public.

Police officers, supported by partner agencies, attended the scene.

The Coastguard and RNLI assisted in taking the body to Holyhead Lifeboat Station. From there, the body was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

Chief Inspector Owain Llewellyn said on October 7: "We have been actively investigating a missing person enquiry since October 5, the circumstances of which relate to a male who was last seen aboard an Irish Ferries vessel sailing between Dublin Port and Holyhead.

"I would like to thank our partners, especially the Coastguard and RNLI for their assistance earlier this afternoon."
