POLICE have confirmed that the body of a man has been recovered in Anglesey.
Shortly after 11am today, October 7, North Wales Police were contacted by a member of the public reporting the discovery of a body on the shore near to Ynys Y Fydlyn.
Police officers, supported by partner agencies, attended the scene and confirmed that the body was that of a deceased male.
The Coastguard and RNLI assisted in conveying the body to Holyhead lifeboat station, from where it was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd.
Chief Inspector Owain Llewellyn said: “We have been actively investigating a missing person enquiry since 5th October, the circumstances of which relate to a male who was last seen aboard an Irish Ferries vessel sailing between Dublin Port and Holyhead.
“We have not been able to formally identify the body yet but have informed the missing man’s family of today’s incident.
“I would like to thank our partners, especially the Coastguard and RNLI for their assistance earlier this afternoon.”
