SOME students from a Coleg Menai campus will have to study from home for two weeks after a case of COVID-19 was confirmed on site.

The case was confirmed at the Bangor campus on Wednesday morning.

Students were informed shortly after and those from the same cohort as the infected person (Access to Higher Education Bio Science Group A) have been told to stay away from the campus for two weeks, whilst still learning from home.

Principal Aled Jones-Griffith wrote to students yesterday, he said: "I have been informed that a confirmed case of Covid-19 has occurred on the Bangor campus today.

"Consequently, we have advised everyone in the relevant contact Group, Access to Higher Education Bio Science (Group A) to stay at home and to be taught online for a fortnight.

"We have notified the Local Authority Test Trace and Protect who in turn will be in touch with those involved following their investigation.

"This incident is perhaps a reminder for us all of the importance of wearing face coverings in all our communal spaces and on college transport as well as maintaining the 2 metre social distancing rule.

"I am sharing this information with you all as learners on the Bangor campus for transparency and will contact you immediately if the situation changes."
