ITV are reportedly set to spend 'millions' on transforming Gwrych Castle into a 'Celebrity friendly'.

With the traditional filming location of Australia out of the question due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it was announced last month that the Abergele-based landmark would play host to the 2020 edition of popular show 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'.

And, in order to make Gwrych a safer and more enjoyable site for the stars and the show's viewers, ITV are reportedly planning to make renovations to the castle.

According to several national media outlets, this year's celebrities will - for the first time ever in the show's 20-year history - have a roof over their heads to keep them sheltered from the harsh Welsh winter weather and prevent the show from having a 'miserable' feel to it.

The decision has reportedly been made given the fact that the show takes place in November and weather conditions in North Wales will be entirely different to the usual glorious sunshine offered in Australia.

Meanwhile, lovable Geordie hosts Ant and Dec are expected to present the show from a specially-made studio on site.

Asked on why ITV decided to choose Gwrych Castle as its location for 2020, Richard Cowles, Director of Entertainment at ITV Studios, said: “The Australian jungle is such an integral part of the show it was a big challenge to find a UK location where we could continue to deliver what viewers love about I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! But Gwrych will definitely do that; the Castle sits in an amazing and atmospheric setting on a hillside overlooking the Irish Sea.

"While there will be plenty of changes required as we move from New South Wales in Australia to North Wales in the UK, we are really excited to see how we can adapt the format and make the Castle our new home for a very special 20th series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! this Autumn.”

Rumoured contestants for this year's 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' include former Family Fortunes presenter Vernon Kay, Eastenders' Jake Wood (aka Max Branning) and Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard (aka Liz McDonald).
