HOUSE prices rose slightly for Wrexham in June, new figures show, whilst Flintshire saw property values drop.

Wrexham’s price boost this month does not reverse the county’s longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area suffer a 3.7 per cent annual decline.

The average Wrexham house price in June was £151,463, Land Registry figures show – a 0.4 per cent increase on May.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Wrexham remained level – putting the area 20th among Wales’s 22 local authorities for annual growth.

Across the county border, Flintshire’s property price trend shows the area suffers a 4.9 per cent annual decline.

The average Flintshire house price in June was £161,821, Land Registry figures show – a 0.9 per cent decrease compared to May.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Flintshire remained level – putting the area 21st among Wales’s 22 local authorities for annual growth.

Owners of semi-detached houses saw the biggest improvement in property prices in Wrexham this month – they increased to £137,927 on average.

However, owners of flats fared the worst in Flintshire this June, dropping 1.5 per cent in price to £82,128 on average.

Figures reveal that first-time buyers in Flintshire spent an average of £136,500 on their property – £6,900 less than a year ago, and £10,400 more than in June 2015.

In Wrexham, that same figures stand at an average of £132,000 spent on their first property – £5,000 less than a year ago, and £9,000 more than in June 2015.

The most expensive properties in Wales were in recorded in Monmouthshire – valued at £265,000 on average. This puts the mid-Wales properties at 1.6 times the value of properties in Flintshire and 1.7 times the value of Wrexham’s on average.
