BEAUMARIS inshore lifeboat assisted a yacht which had gone aground in windy conditions in Friars Bay near the town.
The yacht had made a Mayday call on Friday evening and Holyhead Coastguards called for the lifeboat to be launched.
Once at the scene the lifeboat, despite the windy conditions, placed a crew member aboard. Having checked for any obvious sign of damage to the keel and hull and with help from a rising tide managed to tow the craft off the sandbar.
Once afloat the two crew of the vessel checked for any ingress of water and once satisfied that the hull was watertight elected to continue to their mooring at Conwy.
The Penmon Mobile Rescue Team had also been tasked to this incident and they monitored the progress of the boat towards Conwy.
