SEVERAL famous faces have been spotted throughout Rhuddlan recently - but in the form of scarecrows.

The 2020 Rhuddlan Scarecrow Festival is running between September 1 and 30 and has already seen a host of interesting entries made.

Legendary Queen rocker Freddie Mercury has appeared alongside a banner tribute to NHS workers which reads 'Key workers, You are the Champions'.

Elsewhere, there is a scarecrow dedicated to the much-loved Paddington Bear (picture below with Rhuddlan Town mayor Cllr Arwel Roberts) and another created in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore (also pictured), the 100-year-old who raised more than £5m for the NHS earlier this year when the Coronavirus pandemic first broke out.

But these are just a few examples of some great entries already made into this years' competition.

Speaking on how entries can be made, Rhuddlan Scarecrow Festival organiser Tracey Kerfoot said: "Between September 1 and 30, Rhuddlan residents can can put a scarecrow in their gardens, then post a photo on Rhuddlan community Facebook page with #Rhuddlanscarecrowfestival 2020.

"At the end of the month, people can then vote for their favourite scarecrow in 'The Little Cheesemongers' or at Ysgol y Castell School.

"Votes cost 50p per vote and all money raised will go to Ysgol y Castell PTA, as due to COVID we have not done any events this year".

Last year saw more than 40 scarecrows set up around Rhuddlan. Anyone wanting more information can call Tracey on 0773436023.
