TWO people and a child were rescued from a boat after an engine failure near Puffin Island.
The RNLI said it was called at 2.40pm following the incident near Puffin Island on Monday, August 31. The boat did not have VHF radio so the rescue crew used the 'what3words' app to locate it.
An RNLI spokesperson said the crew decided to moor the boat to Beaumaris due to shallow water at Conwy Harbour.
"The Beaumaris lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington was launched at 2.40 pm and made her way towards the casualty," the spokesperson said.
"Whilst the vessel did not have a VHF radio the crew aboard had given her location to the coastguard using the “what3words” mobile phone location application.
"Initially it had been the intention to return the boat to her base at Conwy however due to the water depth in Conwy after discussing the situation the Coastguard instructed the lifeboat to take the boat to a mooring at Beaumaris.
"The Penmon Mobile Coastguard Rescue team had also been tasked to the incident and was waiting at Beaumaris when the lifeboat placed the casualty vessel on a mooring and brought the two adults and one child from the boat to the pier."
The lifeboat was returned to station at 3.54pm to be refuelled.
