BEAUMARIS lifeboat went to the rescue of a 14-foot rigid inflatable, suspected to have suffered engine failure.

The Beaumaris lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington was launched at 11.55am on Friday, August 28.

Volunteers headed towards Menai Bridge following a report that the boat had anchored due to engine failure.

The UK Coastguard had been unable to contact the vessel on VHF radio and requested the lifeboat launch to investigate.

The Bangor Mobile Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked to attend.

A spokesperson for Beaumaris Lifebaot said: "Whilst the lifeboat was in transit the first informant advised that the motor boat had now picked up a mooring in Menai Bridge and the crew had gone ashore and left in a car.

"In view of this development the lifeboat was released to return to her station at 12.04pm being refuelled and prepared for her next service call."
