MENAI Bridge has now reopened following an earlier 'police incident'.

Drivers were told to find alternative routes this evening as police closed off the bridge heading into Anglesey.

Officers issued a social media update stating that the closure in both directions of the bridge was due to an 'ongoing incident' that North Wales Police were attending.

Traffic reports stated: “A5 Menai Bridge closed due to police incident between A487 Treborth Road (Antelope Roundabout) and A545 Telford Road."

The closure was annouced shortly after 7pm this evening, Sunday, and reopened at about 8pm.

Details remain scarce but it was confirmed that the RNLI were deployed from Beaumaris Lifeboat Station at 7.12pm.
