A CHARITY cricket match will be taking place to raise money to financially support disadvantaged children.

Furness Cricket Club will host the game on Sunday, August 16, between Bluebirds Trust, Raiders Trust, Furness Select (Hindpool Masters) and Furness CC XI.

Money raised by the match will go towards Rumic, who provide financial assistance for disadvantaged, sick and disabled youngsters.

The day will be a ten-side cricket tournament with 20 overs. Everyone will bat four overs.

It takes place at 11am, 2pm and then the final of the tournament will be held at 5pm.

Entry to the match will be £2 per person, and all contributions will go towards Rumic and its good cause. The cricket club bar will be open as normal, however social distancing restrictions will be in place as always. There will also be a BBQ, kindly provided by Masons Butcher.

A special appearance will be made by the National League Trophy which will be at the ground for picture opportunities for visitors.

An organiser from the Bluebirds Trust said: “It would be brilliant to get plenty there to watch the town's biggest sporting clubs have a great laugh whilst raising money for a fantastic charity.”

A Furness CC spokesmen said: “These types of games are always great fun and we look forward to welcoming all the teams and supporters to Furness park.”
