The Fire Station in Llandrindod Wells has been given the green light to go ahead with its plan to extend the station.
The plans include an extension to its existing appliance bay. This will include stores, a delivery room, vehicle testing and maintenance equipment.
The development also includes changes to the existing site.
This consists of: additional overflow parking spaces; a skip waste storage area; and an RTC Compound for storing vehicles used for training.
Powys County Council approved the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue’s plans on Tuesday, July 6.
Llandrindod Wells Town Council supported the plans at a meeting at the end of January.
It said: “The proposed extension and alterations to the site do not directly affect the public right of way, but the footpath does cross the access to the site.
The council spokesman added: “The town council has no objection to this application subject to the footpath protocol being adhered to.”
The planning permission is subject to four conditions which include the fact that no external lighting should be installed unless approved by the council for fears it could impact bats.
