Cameras rolled into Welshpool over the weekend for a brand new comedy drama.

Film crews for 'Fred & Marv' were seen shooting in the town's former magistrates' court on Saturday, July 4.

Writer, director and lead actor Martin Portlock described the old court room in a video posted on Instagram as "absolutely amazing", and said the scenes were "going great so far".

He shared photos of the crew wearing face masks while preparing to film a scene on the magistrates' bench with Emmerdale and Game of Thrones actor Andy Moore as Judge Peterson .

Mr Portlock said on social media that the pilot will be forwarded to large production companies including the BBC and Netflix. The comedy drama is expected to be released in 2021.

The production also stars Megan Lockhurst, Phillip Roy, Ellen Brooke Williams, Fred Newnes, Francesca Williams, Gilda Waugh, Keiran “Mad Max” Simon, and Emma Galliano.

According to the film and television website IMDb, "Fred and Marv struggle with life. They are thrown into a hurricane of fortune and punishment. With their new found friendship, they will come together to face the evil Mrs Hefler in a ridiculous battle for freedom".

Crow Productions recently advertised opportunities for people in Oswestry to become extras while filming takes place in the area throughout July.
