THE number of people in Powys who have died with coronavirus has risen to 92.

Office for National Statistics (ONS) data released on Tuesday, June 30 shows an increase of two on last week's figure, although only one Powys death has been recorded by the ONS in the last week.

That death took place at the person's home. Of the coronavirus related deaths in Powys, nine have taken place at home, 37 people have died in hospital, and there have been 46 care home deaths

Powys Teaching Health Board has suggested Office for National Statistics (ONS) data to be the most accurate, as it shows deaths where coronavirus may have been present since the epidemic began.

Public Health Wales figures, which are lower, show 300 people have been confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus.

Their figures relate to cases where coronavirus has been confirmed, and only include people who have died in hospital settings in Wales.

As such, this excludes people who have died in hospitals in England, those who have passed away in care homes, and those who died without having been tested to confirm the presence of coronavirus.
