COLWYN Bay have received another major boost with the news that top scorer Mitch Bryant has signed a new deal with the club.

The prolific striker joined the Seagulls’ last summer and made a significant impression during his first season operating in the Welsh domestic system, scoring 14 goals and laying on 12 assists for his teammates.

This represents another positive step for Craig Hogg’s side, who are expected to mount a serious JD Cymru North title challenge next term after securing a top-four finish last time around.

Hogg, said: “He was one of the best number nines in the league last season and quickly became a fans favourite.

"We are very pleased he has agreed to be part of what we want to achieve next season and the hope is he will continue to enjoy his football here and replicate the excellent form he showed during the last campaign."

A product of the Manchester United Academy, Bryant signed professional forms with Reading, where he was loaned out to Basingstoke Town in the Conference South and achieved the rare feat of scoring a double hat-trick against Weymouth.

He also had spells at Gloucester City, Hungerford Town, Swindon Supermarine, Cirencester Town, Cambridge City, Frome Town, Royston Town and Hitchin Town, before moving back to Manchester in 2014.

Bryant spent some time as part of the Mossley set-up and also played for Trafford and Clitheroe before joining Runcorn Linnets in 2017.

"Coming into the complete unknown to Welsh football last year, with a new club and a new manager, was a really positive challenge for me - and I loved every minute of it,” added Bryant.

"The club has a plan in which we feel we should be challenging to win promotion.

“With a bit of luck there is no reason why this can't be achieved in the next two years and I have every belief that if we carry over the hard work and quality from last season, we really will be pushing for success in the coming year."
